Canossa-Galvaville Housing Project

Canossa-Galvaville Housing Project is a response to the families along Laguna Bay in Sitio Ronggot, Brgy. Lecheria, Calamba City who were badly hit by the typhoon Ondoy in 2009.  Their houses were wiped out and for some months had to live in the nearby public school.  Since the Canossian Sisters through its nearby community in Canossa Academy-Calamba, has already been assisting them through scholarship to children and formation to their parents, the sisters pooled resources and appealed to other institutions to be able to help them build safer homes.  This project aims to construct the 45 houses for the Ronggot residents and other homeless poor nearby who requested for a relocation for the safety of their families and to organize and develop the village with a Day Care Center for children, skills training for adults and values formation for all the residents in order to be a self-reliant community and enable them to be agents of transformation to their own family, church, and society.

Last March 3, there was the blessing of a block of five more houses which were turned over to five families.  Sr. Glecy Manuyag, Provincial Leader , together with some Sisters and Mr. Arturo Florendo, President of Union Galva Steel Corporation (UGC), a major partner of the Canossian Sisters in developing this village, were  present on this occasion. Presently, we still need donors for the remaining five houses (P100000.00 each), electricity connection and  water system connection.  Be involved.  Share.
